Yelena is truly a God send. I'm not one to normally write reviews but I had to let everyone know what a gem she is. I'd like to have kept it a secret, but she's too good to not share with others who might need her help and benefit from her. My daughter is 5 and half years old. She's been seeing Yelena for about 6 months now. We've seen a huge improvement and milestone with her speech in a short amount of time. Yelena has been working with my daughter since the last one year and I have seen great improvements in her speech and focus. 1) She leans on Kelly vess approach and incorporates obstacle courses in the speech sessions which makes it easier for the kids to focus on language models. 2) She also follows lead of the child and changes the toys and modifies her conversations as per the child’s interest. She works on pragmatic speech along with targeted words to make the child language sound natural and spontaneous, rather than rehearsed. 3) Recently she got my daughter to remember the sequences in a story by acting out every line and then doing fun exercises around it. I saw the same technique being used by the prestigious UCLA center in California for a friends kid. That delighted me to know that I was getting the same skill set. 4) She also incorporates my feedback on what I wish my child to learn and is open to me questioning her style. She always keeps you informed about her methods and the why behind them. 5) She encourages you to sit for every session and observe her. 6) She also recommended me food allergy test and other treatments which have expedited my child’s progress Above all I am lucky to have a therapist as sincere as her who loves my child

To caveat, we tried a different speech therapist prior to finding Ms. Yelena. The differences between the two were leaps and bounds. It is an understatement to say we LOVE Ms. Yelena. As a speech therapist, Ms. Yelena has a wealth of knowlege about speech - how it is learned, how letters fit together, how the body works to produce sounds. I truly felt like I was in capable hands. As a parent concerned about my child's speech development, I appreciate that Ms.Yelena came in with an individualized, focused plan with specific goals. She would tell me we were working on the letter "s" for the week and sure enough, in a few weeks I would hear my son clearly saying "s" words. As a parent, it helped us understand what aspects my son was struggling with and how he was progressing with an outlook of what else we were striving to achieve. We came in with a wiggly 2 year old with a short attention span but Ms. Yelena made speech therapy fun and engaging (while getting the work done). My son absolutely loved coming to speech and viewed it as a treat for which we were absolutely grateful. After a year of speech we have caught my son up to his age and credit this to such an amazing teacher. Thank you Ms. Yelena, you have made such a huge impact to our lives!

Yelena has done the unspeakable for my 4 year old son!! He entered her care a year ago feeling very anxious, distressed and with poor receptive and expressive language. He now is incredibly engaged, social, happy, relaxed, speaking in full sentences, and understanding directions. She was so patient with him and truly understood my child’s needs. She takes a unique, individualized, and progressive approach with all of her clients. She is very up to date on new research and treatment modalities. Yelana has been a godsend for us and our daughter. Not only has our daughters speech become clearer, but her comprehension has improved. We love Miss Yelena! My 2 younger kids have been seeing her for about/almost a year now, and they have both made very significant improvements in their diction and intelligiblity. Yelena is fun, engaging, and gentle, while setting appropriate boundaries for kids (taking into consideration their individual needs and abilities). She treats the child as a whole person (a human being is one organism composed of many interconnected parts, any or all of which can be contributing to speech difficulties), and gives me helpful feedback, updates, and home assignments where needed, to reinforce and support the work she does in session.
